The Association of Otolaryngologists of India, Haryana Chapter, commenced its official journey in 1996 at Rohtak (Haryana). The landmark first meeting was held under the esteemed clinical guidance and leadership of Dr. O.P. Sachdeva (President) and Dr. S.P. Gulati (Secretary).
Indian otolaryngology holds deep historical resonance. Historians record that the earliest documented accounts of ENT surgery are found in ancient Indian Sanskrit texts dating back to 600 B.C.
In the pioneering text Sushruta Samhita, the ancient surgeon Sushruta meticulously described the "attached flap" method of plastic surgery of the nose and ear—a procedure initially developed to reconstruct tissue lost in battles or as standard societal punishments.
